If you believe there is something wrong related to your actions around sex or love and you are wondering what to do about it, then you are at the right place.
You are not alone. There is a great number of us around the world who have suffered or are suffering because of sexual compulsivity or emotional attachment. There is also a number of us here in Singapore who have realised we cannot continue a life filled with secrets and delusion and decided to do something about it.
There is help available. Do not feel embarrassed about reaching out for help. There is no shame in helping yourself to overcome your struggles and become a better person. Help comes in many ways. There are trained therapists in Singapore that can help you deal with sex and love issues, whether it is obsession with romantic affairs, attachment to a certain unavailable person, promiscuous sex, frequent visits to prostitutes and massage parlours, compulsive masturbation, pornography or other.
There is also a lot of literature on recovering from sex and love addiction available. You can have access to the literature through online bookstores in Singapore or international online bookstores.
There is also a fellowship in Singapore which provides a safe environment for sex and love addicts willing to recover to receive support and learn how to live a healthy and happy life without being chained to the ups and downs and consequences of sexual or emotional compulsiveness.
This fellowship is SLAA Singapore. Members come from all ethnic backgrounds, all walks of life, both local and expatriates. The only requirement to join is a willingness to recover from sex or love addiction and a desire to live a healthy and rewarding life. There is no membership fee, and any donations towards meeting room rental are voluntary.
Please note that a basic principle of the group is anonymity protection, ie members know each other by first name only and what is shared in meetings remains in meetings in order to protect each member’s personal space and rights.
Please visit the SLAA Singapore website (www.sg-slaa.com) for more information if you believe that you are suffering from either sex or love compulsivity. Essentially it is up to you to decide whether you are suffering and would like to seek help. If you do come to the conclusion that you need help feel free to drop the group an email at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on locations of group meetings.
SLAA provides a lifeline and support network for many of us and a roadmap to a healthy life. Please feel free to reach out for it.
